Walkers, bikers, strollers, scooters, rollers, skaters, and transit riders! The Town of Montague plans to ask the state for funding for street and sidewalk improvements this fall, and now is our chance to weigh in on spots in town could be fixed to make it easier and safer for people to get around without a car.
With help from the Franklin Regional Council of Governments (FRCOG), the Montague Planning Department has made a list of over 100 possible improvement projects that qualify for funding through the Massachusetts Complete Streets Funding program — now they need to know two things:
- Did all the areas that need improvement make it onto the list?
- Which of these many possible projects should Montague seek funding for first?
The town is taking public input on its Complete Streets Prioritization Plan from now until Friday, 8/3. There is a presentation scheduled for this Thursday, 7/26 from 2-4 p.m. at Town Hall in the upstairs meeting room — if you can make it then, that will be an excellent opportunity to learn more and give feedback.
You can also review what’s on the list by using this awesome interactive map, which includes descriptions of projects and photos. Or, you can download it as a document that you can print and edit from this page: www.montague-ma.gov/n/69/Complete-Streets-Prioritization-Plan
If you want to give input to the town about this, please send your comments and suggestions directly to Walter Ramsey, our Town Planner, by email: planner@montague-ma.gov.
I hope you will weigh in! If you have questions or would like to talk about your ideas before you send them in, please don’t hesitate to be in touch.
